INVOLVEMENT/ROLE(S): Event Planner

Asian Student Leadership Conference (ASLC) will always be held near and dear to my heart. Throughout my years at my university, there has always been opportunities for high school students in Lincoln, NE to attend the Black Leadership Symposium, Mexican Leadership Symposium, or Native American Leadership Symposium that was hosted by the university. But there was never an Asian Leadership Symposium.

So, the organization I was involved in, Asian Student Union (ASU), decided to make our own. We started in 2017 with the assistance of the administration however it wasn’t what we envision when collaborating with them. As a result, after sponsorships and collaboration with other Asian/Asian-American student organizations on campus, we resurrected ASLC in 2019 how we wanted it to be originally. We wanted to engage our high school students with current university students from the moment they got to the event until they left the event. Providing them with current/relevant advice and wisdom that resonated with them from the beginning until the end.
